The first batch of aircraft participating at Aero India 2023 – those partaking in flypast and flying display – are scheduled to land in Bengaluru on February 7, while the other batch of planes (static display) will arrive between February 8 and 12.
According to the ministry of defence (MoD), all aircraft participating at the biennial air show scheduled between February 13 and 17 will be seen practising from February 8, while the final rehearsal is scheduled for February 11. The aircraft will depart on February 19. The MoD added the schedule could change based on developments and the same would be communicated to exhibitors.
While the ministry did not release details on the number of aircraft that will be participating in this year’s show, an official manual released read: “Aircraft participating would not be charged for landing/parking (including support aircraft) for the duration of the exhibition.”
“…Parking charges for the stay outside the duration of exhibition will be levied as per tariff applicable at the time of exhibition. Payments would only be made through card/online direct bank transfer to DEO (defence exhibition organisation) account at site or in advance in the account mentioned,” it added.
According to the manual, Indian aircraft participating in the show need to pay in the range of Rs 1.2 lakh (for aircraft weighing up to 1 tonne) and Rs 8.1 lakh (weighing over 60 tonne), while foreign aircraft need to pay in the range of $2,200 to $15,700. Aside from static and flying display, the manual said exhibitors can also undertake “customer demonstration flight outside timings earmarked for other displays with one day’s advance notice for specific clearance by Flying Display Committee”.
